Flavours

I’ve had a sweet tooth for as long as I can remember and I’m especially particular about my dessert.  As a result, I wouldn’t feed someone else a cake that I wouldn’t eat myself.  This explains why you won’t see fruitcake as an option here!  I will not eat it, therefore, I will not bake it.  Everything else is pretty much fair game.

With this in mind, each FLAVOUR cake is baked fresh, filled with a smooth swiss meringue buttercream and carefully covered in a fondant finish.  Flavour combinations range from rich chocolate to fruit based batters paired with any number of complimentary fillings.

Offerings change as new recipes and combinations are tested.  The ultimate goal is to provide an edible display that’s appreciated both with the eyes and with the taste buds.

A full menu is available upon request, but in the meantime here’s a sampling of some of what’s offered:

Sweet Serendipity

A classic vanilla bean butter cake, laced with simple syrup, and filled with a light swiss meringue buttercream flavoured in caramel undertones.  Take it up a notch by adding crushed toffee to the filling for an unexpected change in texture.

La Isla Bonita

A fresh coconut cake reminiscent of warmer places.  Filled with alternating layers of strawberry puree and smooth lime buttercream.   For a different taste and sweetness, replace the strawberry and lime with a coconut rum buttercream instead.

Spice Up Your Life

A triple spice-infused carrot cake filled with walnuts and crushed pineapple.  Fill this popular cake with a simple cream cheese filling or go beyond by adding a hint of orange, lemon or cinnamon.  Also great with a cinnamon buttercream.

Lady Eaton

A staple dessert of the Eaton’s department store chain back in the 1940s and 50s, the actual origins of this cake are shrouded in mystery.   Introducing the red velvet.  A cocoa-based Southern favourite with an unmistakable red tint.  A simple cream cheese filling or vanilla buttercream allows the flavour of this cake to speak for itself.

Sticky Monkey

A moist banana cake filled with layers of thin caramel and chocolate swiss meringue buttercream.  Alternatively, substitute strawberry or raspberry buttercream for a fruity twist.
