Karma
Kindness is Contagious
Experience has shown me that those who are truly successful in life have in some way contributed to the success of those around them. I recognize that I’ve been blessed and truly privileged to meet some wonderful people in the last few years who directed and inspired me to follow a path which I may have otherwise overlooked. Now through FLAVOUR I’ve chosen to pay it forward.
Since its inception, FLAVOUR has focused some of its energies towards supporting charitable initiatives that serve to bring good to those less fortunate. Each year this initiative changes and for 2011 I’ve chosen to go local by assisting The Food Bank of Waterloo Region.
According to The Food Bank, the top most needed items include peanut butter, canned meat and fish, tomatoes and sauce, canned fruit, fruit juice, macaroni & cheese, rice, canned pasta, and cold cereal. Throughout the year a portion of all cake proceeds will be used to purchase items on this list in order to assist those in need. Clients who are interested may also opt to make a non-perishable food donation through FLAVOUR.
Why The Food Bank this year? Because I once witnessed a homeless man go through a garbage can and pour the cold remnants of several Starbucks coffee cups into one container so that he had something to drink. As a basic necessity, food should not be that hard to come by.
Karma, simply put, is cause and effect. You get what you give, and I believe in sharing the wealth.
