The Taste Behind the FLAVOUR

So who is the girl behind FLAVOUR?

Some would describe me as a perfectionist, but I would rather think of myself as attuned to the order of things.  I treat people as I would like to be treated, I drink green smoothies for breakfast, and I order my Starbucks Tazo Chai non-fat, no water and then precariously drown it in cinnamon.  I’m health conscious, but I’m not above sugar binges when the urge strikes and I wouldn’t think twice about spending $98 on a pair of Lululemon groove pants.

On a good day you’ll find me leisurely listening to the Black Eyed Peas or Coldplay, checking out Robin Sharma’s Vlogs, and fussing with my plants – because they need love too.  But then again, every day is a good day.  It’s only our own perception that makes it seem otherwise.  Chin up, no matter what.

I could live on Junior Mints, Kelsey’s spinach dip, and buttered popcorn, but know that none of them would sustain me indefinitely.  And I’m well known in the office for drinking green water.  Because someone once said that liquid chlorophyll does the body good.  Now it’s just a habit.

On a much broader level, my inspiration is fueled by people who go out of their way to make a difference in this world.  But sadly I also think that too many of us waste time worrying about what has gone wrong in our lives instead of acknowledging the miracles that occur each day.  Live fully.  Love deeply.  Let go with no bitterness.

Some more random thoughts about me:

When at Dairy Queen I ALWAYS order a cookie dough blizzard mixed with SKOR.

I think the Matrix Trilogy is bizarre and awesome all at the same time, but in my opinion nothing beats the adventures of Jason Bourne.  Bourne Identity.  Bourne Supremacy.  Bourne Ultimatum.  Bourne awesomeness.

I LOVE the city of Vancouver and Cupcakes on Denman – the mint chocolate rocks my world.  And being near the ocean and listening to the waves crash on the shoreline recharges my batteries like nothing else.

One day I may overdose on Carrabba’s fresh bread and olive oil dip – assuming they ever make it to Canada.  And I may never live down the Tsawassan ferry incident!

I tend to drive with my sunroof open whenever possible (and faster when a great tune is playing!).  And nothing short of an emergency gets in the way of Survivor and The Amazing Race – my guilty pleasures.

All that aside, I’m a regular person who’s learning to follow my heart instead of my mind.  It’s how I got into cake.  I have to say I’m grateful for so many things, but most importantly my family and my grandma who unknowingly started me on this path all those years ago.  I hope she’s still admiring my creations from above.

This is my passion.  My love.  My sacrifice.  It has to be when even after a full day at the office I’m still working on a cake at 2:00 a.m. so that someone else can smile the next day.

Overall, my mission with FLAVOUR is this:  Make it FUN, Make it FRESH, and Make it FABULOUS!

In Sweetness,

Diane
